Mary Engelbreit Greeting Card Artist

Mary Engelbreit®

Illustrator Mary Engelbreit’s unmistakable style combines wit and nostalgia with dazzling detail and color. People magazine called her art “as recognizable as Norman Rockwell.” With characters, sayings and scenes often springing directly from her personal observations and childhood memories, Mary's art speaks to people on a very basic level by celebrating the simplicities of life. Her unique combination of illustrations with words, such as "Life is just a chair of bowlies," and "The queen of everything," allow customers to connect with her work on many levels.

Mary Engelbreit Studios signed its first major license in 1986 with Sunrise for greeting cards, beginning a relationship that has lasted more than twenty years. Sunrise Greetings is pleased to continue our association with Mary, whose artwork adorns 14 million cards sold each year, and who is one of the most successful greeting card artists of all time.

After more than two decades, Mary’s work continues to uplift and inspire millions of people each year through her greeting cards, as well as calendars, best-selling books and hundreds of gift and home décor products. “I feel so fortunate to be successful doing something I love,” Mary says of her success. “I’ve always said I would have continued to draw regardless of any commercial success, but to have so many people appreciate what I do is more than I could have imagined twenty or thirty years ago. This is truly a dream come true.”
